DELIMITATION OF WARDS

To: All media

From: Municipal Manager Mr. SF Mndebele Date: 18 August 2020

PUBLIC NOTICE: DELIMITATION OF WARDS 2019-2020: OF:.

PUBLICATION OF WARDS FOR OBJECTIONS FOR BATCH 1 MUNICIPALITIES

.

Govan Mbeki Municipality hereby grants an extension of time to the existing public inspection of General valuation roll 2020/2025 and lodging of objections from 29

May 2020 to 30 June 2020 due to current lockdown COVID-19 pandemic.

The Municipal Demarcation Board undertook a process of Public Consultation on the Delimitation of Wards in March 2020. Due to the declaration of the State of

National Disaster announced in March 2020 the MDB revised its ward delimitation programme. The programme was divided into Batch 1 and Batch 2 municipalities.

Batch 1 municipalities constitute all municipalities the MDB could visit before the declaration of the state of national disaster and lockdown and Batch 2

municipalities constitute all municipalities the MDB could not visit before the declaration of the state of national disaster and lockdown. Stakeholders and members of

the public for Batch 1 municipalities were given until the 31st of May 2020 to submit written proposals. The Municipal Demarcation Board conducted the Public Consultation session for Govan Mbeki Municipality on the 5th March 2020 which therefore means that the Municipality falls under Batch 1.

After the closing date for submissions, the MDB analyzed all submissions received. On the 22nd July 2020, the Board considered all submissions, delimited wards

and resolved to publish all wards affecting Batch 1 municipalities for objections in the relevant provincial gazettes. In terms of Schedule 1 of the Local

Government: Municipal Structures Act (Act 117 of 1998), members of the public are allowed 14 days from the date of publication of the relevant provincial gazette to submit written objections to the MDB.

As a Community member and key Stakeholder, you are therefore invited to peruse the Mpumalanga Provincial gazette on the Delimitation of Wards (Gazette no 3179 notice no. 77) which can be found on MDB website www.demarcation.org.za or Government Printing Works website www.gpwonline.co.za. All objections must be submitted by email to registry@dermarcation.org.za & hester@dermacation,org.za and the closing date for all submissions is the 20th August 2020. After the period of objections, the MDB will consider all received objections, delimit final wards and publish these in the relevant provincial gazettes in September 2020.
