INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

NETWORK TECHNICIAN – (REF: 2018-19/045)

Requirements:                                                                   

  • Grade 12
  • Three (3) year National Diploma in ICT
  • Valid Code EB Driver’s License
  • Two (2) years relevant experience
  • Ability to work accurately and under pressure / Accurate and precise attention to detail
  • Be prepared to work within the entire Govan Mbeki municipal jurisdiction
  • Be prepared to work overtime
  • Ability to analyze technical problems and strategize for better solutions
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills

Key Performance Areas:

  •  
  • Ensuring that ICT Network Services are designed, implemented and maintained optimally.
  • Conducting repairs and maintenance of routers and switches in adherence to the ICT Maintenance Plan.
  • Performing network point installations and documenting.
  • Attending all network related complaints/job cards within the stipulated time (departmental service standards).
  • Procuring and installing of various network infrastructure according to the minimum ICT requirements.
  • Monitoring all Fibre Network daily to ensure prompt response to any fibre damage.
  • Monitoring all Routers to identify slow or dead signal strength and to ensure prompt repair on routers.
  • Performing Cat5e and Cat 6 cabling.
  • Creating new users on the domain.
  • Cleaning up the backup media and ensuring that all servers are connected to the UPS.
  • Resetting users on the domain and ensuring data security by granting users directory rights accordingly.
  • Ensuring that Antivirus and Antispyware security implementations are in place.

REMUNERATION PACKAGE:
BASIC SALARY: R300 276.00 per annum (level 6) plus company benefits & non-pensionable allowance

The offer of remuneration will be determined by competencies, qualifications and experience as per the Local Government Regulations on Appointment and Conditions of Employment of Senior Managers, read together with the guidelines as set out in Notice 1224 published in Government Gazette No. 42023 dated 08 November 2018, Upper Limits of Total Remuneration Packages payable to Municipal Managers and Managers directly accountable to Municipal Managers.
