SENIOR ACCOUNTANT: ASSET MANAGEMENT

Requirements:                                                                  

  • Grade 12
  • Three (3) year National Diploma or relevant B.Com Degree with Accounting as subject
  • Three (3) years relevant experience in Asset Management within the Municipal environment
  • National Treasury Minimum Competency Requirements
  • Computer literacy
  • Valid Code B Driver’s license
  • Ability to work independently
  • Supervisory skills

Key Performance Areas:

  • Providing leadership, advice and support to staff within the team.
  • Co-ordinating, monitoring and facilitating the asset register compilation process.
  • Overseeing the updating of the asset register.
  • Assist with the asset verification process prior to the Auditor General audits.
  • Assisting in developing and implementing programs and controls by communicating with directorates on asset issues.
  • Designing and evaluating internal controls to control asset movement during and after the asset register compilation process.
  • Maintaining a computerized database of assets.
  • Observing the capitalization of assets by referring to the latest Generally Recognized Accounting Practice (GRAP) statements.
  • Resolving queries from the other departments related to the fixed asset register,
  • Ensuring that the asset register is reconciled on an ongoing basis.
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Calculating the profit/loss on disposal of assets correctly and ensure that the asset is removed from the asset register
  • Assisting with the administration and updating of the Capital Financing and Asset Management Module within the financial system.
  • Ensuring that insurance votes are reconciled with the vote of various departments.
  • Leading, guiding, instructing, delegating work and motivating subordinates by means of regular staff meetings and daily interaction with subordinates.
  • Recommending or initiating and implementing effective management processes.
  •  Attending to queries raised by the Auditor General.

REMUNERATION PACKAGE:
BASIC SALARY: R384 780.00 per annum (level 4) plus normal company benefits, travelling allowance and 25% non-pensionable allowance

The offer of remuneration will be determined by competencies, qualifications and experience as per the Local Government Regulations on Appointment and Conditions of Employment of Senior Managers, read together with the guidelines as set out in Notice 1224 published in Government Gazette No. 42023 dated 08 November 2018, Upper Limits of Total Remuneration Packages payable to Municipal Managers and Managers directly accountable to Municipal Managers.
