Executive Mayoral Committee:
Each MMC chairs a portfolio committee which constitutes of certain councillors as approved by Council and the Senior officials of that Department. The portfolio committee hears Items applicable to the functions of the Department and sends them to the Executive Mayoral Committee with recommendations. The Executive Mayoral committee either takes a resolution on those items or refers them back to the respective portfolio committees for further assessment.
Council elected Mr Sipho Nkosi as the Executive Mayor, who in turn, with the powers vested in him, elected the 6 members to the Executive Mayor Committee to assist him in his duties.
The primary purpose of the Mayoral committee is to make stategic and operational decisions on the future of the Council.
