"Good governance, sound financial management and effective recruitment procedures – this is how we shall restore the community’s confidence in Local Municipality"- Hon. Mayor Sipho Nkosi.
Access to information is one of the key aspects of meaningful community participation to ensure improved service delivery. The Municipality is the custodian of good governance, efficient and effective service delivery mechanisms. The subscription and adherence to the principles of “Batho Pele”is a vehicle in which to promote and improve the quality of services we provide to our communities. Our convictions are driven by community oriented core values, which resonate within the ambit of responsive, accountable and professional service delivery.
The municipality has completed an extensive and a broad consultative process during the budget compilation, drafting of the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and currently the Spatial Development Framework (SDF) is in a process of being finalized.
With the appointment of a new CFO, Mr Philip van der Merwe, the Council has seen a drastic improvement in its financial affairs. The financial gains has enabled the Council to redirect its expenditure towards services most needed by the community in this financial year.
The finalisation of the Spatial Development Framework in the near future will provide a structured framework to business' and investors to expand on economic growth and prosperity for the region as a whole.
