DEPARTMENT PLANNING AND DEVLOPMENT
SENIOR TOWN PLANNER (Section: Land Use Management)
? Grade 12
? National Diploma in Town and Regional Planning with five (5) years post graduate Town and Regional Planning experience OR
? Four (4) year Degree in Town & Regional Planning with three (3) years’ experience, which degree will be an added advantage.
? Registration with SACPLAN (South African Council of Planners)
? Experience in Local Government Planning will be an added advantage
? GIS experience will be an added advantage
? Ability to interpret the various legislations with regards to Land Use Applications.
? Excellent computer knowledge and skills
? Valid Code EB (08) Driver’s Licence
Key Performance Areas:
? Processing and evaluating Land Development applications in terms of relevant Legislation.
? Compiling reports and making recommendations on Land Development applications to authorised officials, the Planning Tribunal and Council to ensure alignment with town and regional planning principles, policies, regulations and legislation.
? Serve notices and or take necessary actions in the event of unauthorized land use to ensure compliance to the Govan Mbeki Spatial Planning and Land Use Management By-Law (SPLUMB) and Land Use Scheme (LUS).
? Facilitating processes of obtaining inputs from relevant parties and departments for town planning and township establishment activities to ensure implementation of policies.
? Facilitating and addressing objections and appeals received on Land Development applications and processing such in terms of SPLUMA and relevant By-Law.
? Attend to public complaints and enquiries as well as site inspections related to Town and Regional Planning matters.
? Providing verbal and written correspondence to the public regarding Town Planning information.
? Execute administrative duties related to Town and Regional Planning.
? Assist in compiling spatial planning and development strategies.
? Assist in identifying the need for land and township establishment in line with the Spatial Development Framework.
ANNUAL BASIC SALARY: R331 560.00 (level 5) plus normal company benefits and a 25% NPA
